Welcome to Avaia Design, an interior design studio led by Christie Onuoha specialized in thoughtful, personal residential interior design for custom homes, builder-led projects, and staging in Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and beyond. At Avaia, we believe your home should feel like an extension of who you are: a place that reflects your story and the way you want to live. Whether we’re working directly with homeowners or partnering with builders or real estate professionals to bring a property to life, we approach each project with care, curiosity, and a deep respect for the people who will experience the space. We see our role as being in service to those who place their trust in us – listening closely, asking thoughtful questions, and helping uncover the choices that will best serve the home and the people who will live in it.
Our process is rooted in openness, trust, and possibility. We believe design should feel joyful and expansive, not intimidating – a chance to explore all that your unique home can become. Christie Onuoha, Founder & Principal Designer
Meet Christie
Christie is the founder and principal designer of Avaia Design, where she brings more than a decade of interior design experience across residential, hospitality, and multi-family interiors. After earning her Interior Design degree from the Art Institute of Dallas, a CIDA-accredited program, she went on to build her experience at several well-regarded Dallas firms and studios.
Christie’s love for interiors began long before it became her career. As a little girl, she would cut furniture and decor images from magazines, glue them into sketchbooks, and imagine the stories unfolding inside each space. This sense of story still carries through her work today. Christie approaches the design process as a collaborative and client-centered experience, helping clients uncover the pieces of their taste that may not have words yet.
Her approach is rooted in helping clients to trust their own taste and empowering them to make choices most authentic to them. Christie believes the best homes are not simply beautiful, but soulful. The most meaningful projects to her are the ones where clients feel seen, understood, and at home in a space that truly reflects who they are and how they want to live.
